Recognised by the BRITISH BURN ASSOCIATION
and the NATIONAL CBRN CENTRE

Bottleshower™ is recognised by the BRITISH BURN ASSOCIATION and the NATIONAL CBRN CENTRE as being an essential component when using water to dilute, cool and remove the effects of corrosive burns and treating contaminated wounds.

A recent report from the Faculty of Pre - Hospital Care & British Burn Association highlights the following benefits of clean drinking water:

  • Cool running water has been demonstrated to the most effective method of burn cooling and has beneficial effects on burn healing outcome.

  • The optimal duration of burn cooling is 20 minutes.

  • Water should preferably be drinkable to reduce risk of wound infection, non-pottable water should be avoided for burn cooling.

  • The optimum delivery rate of water on a wound of between 1 – 1.5 L per minute to the burn area(s) .

The Bottleshower Showerhead (+) achieves a delivery rate of 1.25 L per minute making it an excellent mechanism to ensure the optimum pressure is achieved when cooling and irrigating using bottled water.

Versions are also available to fit the square one litre Baxter Sterile water bottle, the Fresenius Kabi sterile water bottle and the foldable range of PLATYPUS bladder bottles.

With ever more equipment being carried on emergency vehicles Bottleshower™ provides a quick mobile washing solution benefiting the patient and medical team with the additional bonus of space, weight and cost for the operator.

Bottleshower™ Specified by Police Forces Nationwide

As part of the National Remove, Remove, Remove guidelines on exposure to hazardous substances, The Bottleshower now features in decontamination kits used by police forces nationwide helping to provide clean water washing and irrigation solutions.

Following a request from London Metropolitan Police a five litre shower head version was developed to fit the large 5 litre bottles.

A Met spokesperson stated that “The flushing of an affected area is imperative in the initial treatment of an injury using a corrosive substance, Bottleshower is extremely effective as it allows the water to be concentrated on the affected area instead of saturating the victim and losing a lot of water on the floor. The bottle shower is now part of the Decontamination kit that all emergency police vehicles and security posts in London have been equipped with, which also includes protective eyewear and gauntlets to deal with corrosive injuries”.
